Questions to ask yourself before adopting a Samoyed.
Why do you want a Samoyed?
Do you rent or own your home? Are there known restrictions for pets, either by a Landlord or community covenants?
Will the dog be considered a part of your family?
How do you envision spending time with your dog?
What activities do you see you and your dog involved in?
Do you have a fenced yard?
If not, how will the dog be exercised?
Will the dog be allowed in the house?
Will the dog have free run of your home?
If you work, where will the dog be kept when you aren't at home?
Are you a compulsive cleaner?
How do you feel about hair on your clothing, furniture, etc.?
Who will feed the dog? What will you feed it?
Who will groom the dog?
Who will scoop up after the dog?
Will the dog be allowed to accompany you on family excursions?
Are you away from home during the day? At night?
What will you do with a dog when you go on vacation?
Are you willing to spend time training a dog?
Are you willing to use a crate/kennel? Why or why not?
What will you do if your rescue dog has an accident on your rug or chews one of your favorite items?
What will you do if your dog digs holes in your lawn?
If your dog barks a lot when he/she is outside, how will you handle it?
Would the addition of a baby to your family make you decide you no longer need or have time for a dog?
If a member of your family develops allergies, what will you do?
If you have children, do they understand how to treat a dog?
How do you plan to keep your dog from getting out a door or gate?
Have you previously owned a Samoyed or other breed? If yes, did it live to an old age? If no, why not?

Do you prefer a calm, quiet greeting when you come home over a boisterous, enthusiastic greeting?
Do you know that large breed dogs are susceptible to hip problems and/or arthritis in their older years
Are you prepared to give this dog a good home for possibly the next 10-12 years?
All Samoyeds require a commitment of attention and time. They are very people oriented dogs and are happiest with constant
human interaction. They also need regular grooming - which takes time.
